Travel: Up to 40% domestic and global travel
This role is based in Decatur, IL, which is the primary and preferred work location. Candidates from other ADM sites/locations may also be considered if there is a strong alignment of skills and experience. This position does not offer remote or hybrid work options.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Global Industrial Hygiene Manager to lead and govern occupational health risk management across a diverse, multinational organization. This role is accountable for defining the global industrial hygiene strategy, ensuring regulatory and management system alignment, and serving as the enterprise technical authority for occupational exposure assessment and control.
The ideal candidate is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with extensive hands-on experience applying the AIHA Strategy for Assessing and Managing Occupational Exposures, strong working knowledge of UK and EU risk assessment methodologies, and proven capability supporting an ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system.
Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead a global industrial hygiene strategy aligned with corporate EHS objectives and international best practices.
  • Serve as the organization's global subject matter expert for occupational exposure assessment and industrial hygiene governance.
  • Champion consistent application of the AIHA Strategy for Assessing and Managing Occupational Exposures across global operations.
  • Integrate UK and EU occupational risk assessment methodologies, including COSHH-based approaches, into global standards and procedures.
  • Ensure effective recognition, evaluation, and control of chemical, physical, and biological occupational health hazards.
  • Embed industrial hygiene requirements within an ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system.
  • Partner with engineering and operations to influence facility design, capital projects, and management of change processes.
  • Ensure compliance with global occupational health regulations and proactively address emerging requirements.
  • Lead exposure monitoring strategies, data analysis, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver industrial hygiene training and mentor global EHS professionals.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential required and maintained in good standing.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive industrial hygiene experience, including senior-level or global responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated practical application of the AIHA Strategy for Assessing and Managing Occupational Exposures.
  • Proven working knowledge of UK and EU occupational risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience supporting or operating within an ISO 45001 / ISO 45000 occupational health and safety management system.
  • Experience working across multiple countries and regulatory environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) credentials.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, or other high-hazard industrial environments.
  • Advanced experience with exposure modeling, statistical analysis, and industrial hygiene data analytics.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders in a matrixed, global organization.
