Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a min of 5 years' experience in leadership with facilities/maintenance OR High School Diploma and 15 years supervisory experience in facilities/maintenance

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferable in a maintenance department
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience supervising in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance department
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience with TPM, Synchronous Mfg, and Kaizen Concepts
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, have good team building skills, excellent people skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, technically oriented
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance and basic understanding on industrial plant infrastructure including air handline equipment, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, etc
  • General understanding of construction, maintenance and fabrication methods
  • Energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good PC skills, good telephone skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere

This Facilities Engineering Leader is responsible for leading the direction and coordination of repair, maintenance, and installation activities within Plant 3, Whitehall Casting Operation. This position will lead the maintenance departments and activities, supervise an effective team, determine overall maintenance activities and priorities, maintain compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, interface between management and union officials, interface with subcontractors and make decisions for subcontracting work based on staffing levels, and plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

Job Responsibilities

The high profile position will apply Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives to manage the physical infrastructure of the plant and its equipment. This includes the design, installation, operation, maintenance, modification, construction, safety, and protection of the physical facilities and equipment used to manufacture technologically-sophisticated products. 

  • Lead by example that safety is a way of life

  • Lead/Manage the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering departments

  • Drive asset utilization.  Shorten cycles, minimize downtime, and keep equipment running. Utilizes 8 pillars of TPM.

  • Minimize unplanned equipment downtime and maximize equipment reliability by employing TPM and other Lean initiatives

  • Ensure Facilities Engineering metrics are well-known, and track progress toward achieving department objectives

  • Establish project goals, and lead the group effort toward successfully completing those projects

  • Manage the maintenance and repair budget

  • Contribute to cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction

  • Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability

  • Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce

  • Advise, assist and review all matters involving capital and major expenses. Review and edit all requests for assets (RFA) and author those pertaining to the facility

  • ASAT management

  • Represent Howmet at community planning boards

  • Daily help manage parts and expedite parts as necessary.

  • Troubleshoot equipment - sense of urgency.

  • Daily review of PM's equipment down with team.

  • ASAT - audits and improvements.
