OB/GYN Hospitalist | Charlotte, North Carolina
Novant Health is seeking a BC/BE OB/GYN Hospitalist to join our highly experienced women's services team in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an OB/GYN physician seeking a sustainable hospitalist schedule, strong clinical support, competitive compensation, and the ability to practice meaningful inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care within a collaborative, physician-led health system.
Position Highlights
This full-time opportunity features a highly desirable schedule of just seven 24-hour in-house shifts per month, offering exceptional work-life balance while maintaining meaningful clinical impact.
This is a full-time, employed position with a total compensation package exceeding $200/hour - starting at $160/hr base plus comprehensive benefits including a $40,000 sign-on bonus, 401K match, tail coverage, malpractice, CME allowance, and relocation support.
Additional earning opportunities may include extra shifts, emergency coverage, holiday premium pay, surgery assist compensation, and shift coverage at additional regional medical centers. A partner-provider 12-hour daytime shift model may also be available.
Clinical Role
Our OB/GYN Hospitalists play a critical role in supporting labor and delivery, responding to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies, and providing consultative care in a well-supported inpatient environment.
Responsibilities include:
  • Labor and delivery coverage

  • OB triage

  • Emergency Department consults

  • Delivery backup

  • First assist for C-sections

  • Support for obstetric and gynecologic emergencies

  • Inpatient consultative services

Community OB/GYN providers cover advanced gynecologic surgery and serve as backup support, allowing hospitalists to focus on core inpatient OB/GYN hospitalist responsibilities.
The Charlotte-area OB Hospitalist team averages approximately three service deliveries monthly and 244 encounters monthly, creating a manageable clinical environment with meaningful patient impact and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
Practice Environment
Novant Health offers a highly collaborative women's services platform across the Charlotte market, with strong inpatient, surgical, neonatal, and subspecialty support.

  • Level IV NICU

  • 24/7 anesthesia coverage

  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine support

  • Epic EMR

  • Community OB/GYN backup

  • Advanced gynecologic surgery coverage by community providers
