Job description

Find your calling at Mercy!

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a board-certified OB Hospitalist to join our established, high-functioning team in St. Louis, Missouri. This is an ideal opportunity for physicians who are ready to step off the traditional call-heavy model and into a role that offers true work-life balance-without giving up high-acuity, meaningful OB care.

With a flexible schedule of just 14 shifts per month and no at-home call, you'll have the time and predictability to enjoy life outside of medicine-while still practicing in a high-volume, clinically rich environment.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Only ~14 shifts per month with a mix of 12- and 24-hour options
  • No at-home call - when you're off, you're truly off
  • Practice in a high-volume center (9,000+ births annually)
  • Focus on the most rewarding aspects of OB: labor management, deliveries, procedures, and acute care
  • Provide care in OB triage and inpatient settings
  • Manage labor and perform vaginal deliveries and c-sections
  • Care for hospitalized obstetric and gynecologic patients
  • Participate in resident teaching and mentorship (ACGME-accredited program)

You'll work alongside a collaborative team of 7 OB Hospitalists, with 24/7 OB/GYN backup available-giving you both independence and support.

Mercy Hospital St. Louis:

  • Mercy Birthplace with low intervention patient-centered options
  • Midwifery Birthing Center supporting a full spectrum of care models
  • Level III NICU with advanced neonatal support
  • Nationally recognized Maternal and Fetal Health Center

Build the Career-and Life-You Want

This is a rare opportunity to maintain procedural skills, stay in a high-acuity OB environment, and regain control of your schedule. Whether you're looking to reduce burnout, gain predictability, or create more time for family and personal interests, this role provides the balance without compromise.

Your life is our life's work

At Mercy, you can lead the way. Join a team where your passion for patient care meets cutting-edge innovation. As part of an organization rooted in nearly 200 years of compassionate service, you'll help deliver transformative health care experiences while exploring new technologies and shaping the future of medicine. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to physician leadership-from the highest levels of our organization to the front lines of care-where physicians and caregivers collaborate, embrace fresh thinking, and drive clinical and operational excellence. If making a difference in your community is why you chose health care, Mercy is where your purpose meets possibility.
