Responsibilities:

Job Summary
Functions as a physician performing the duties of an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. The physician provides comprehensive evidence-based care to a designated patient population, providing OB/GYN services to patients in the medical office setting as well as to hospital patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
Physician is accountable for the delivery of quality measures that will provide excellence in personalized healthcare and will provide communication to referring physicians to maintain a continuum of care for all patients.
Essential Functions
  • Clinical and Regulatory Compliance: Practices Obstetrics and Gynecology incorporating established quality standards. Participates in the OB/GYN call schedule for Sonoran Crossing. Collaborating with the Sonoran Crossing Administration and other medical staff leadership to develop an OB/GYN clinic and identify new opportunities to expand OB/GYN services. Developing treatment protocols, clinical pathways, quality standards and best practices in the overall clinical practice of outpatient OB/GYN services. Working with the respective departmental leadership establishing standards for accepting patients into OB/GYN clinic setting. Becoming actively engaged in the Sonoran Crossing peer review process. Participation in regularly scheduled Medicine and other staff committees that require collaboration within the OB/GYN Services. Meeting with consulting and referring community physicians to determine the most effective communication processes to achieve the highest level of continuity of care. Collaborates with the Medical Director to provide fiscal accountability for the service. Participates in establishing a positive rapport with the community based physicians, emergency department, the intensive care units, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy and other appropriate service areas. Collaborates with Case Management and the Clinical Documentation Specialists. Utilizes Medical Director when necessary in difficult situations. Collaborates with the Medical Director to identify new opportunities to expand the Gastroenterology services in collaboration with administration and community physicians. Complete understanding of and adherence to EMTALA regulations. Compliant with all HonorHealth Medical Staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies. Complies with documentation standards for all medical care rendered. Participates and complies with all patient safety indicators.
  • Leadership: Participates in the recruitment and retention of physicians. Facilitates and supports the mentoring of other physicians, nurses, pharmacist and other healthcare professionals. Creates a climate for professional practice with other disciplines. Supports the vision and values of the organization. Attends and participates in Departmental Committee meetings.
  • Education: Plans, coordinates, facilitates and participates in educational programs dealing with OB/GYN care. With direction of the Medical Director, may participate with CME planning for the Hospital. Participates with the Director of Medical Education and Medical Director of Academic Affairs to assure appropriate teaching opportunities for residents and medical students. Participates in the education of nurses and other ancillary professionals.
