Job description

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm with weekly rotation of 'on call' availability required.


NYS Retirement System and health benefits.


Sick time begins immediately with vacation time after six months.

Compensation:

Min: 41,600.00

Max: 47,000.00


DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

This class involves performance of skilled maintenance and repair tasks. Incumbents generally devote most of their time to work of a single specialized field but are required to occasionally perform maintenance tasks in other areas as the occasion demands. In this respect, the class differs from such classes as Painter Carpenter, Plumber, etc which limits incumbents to a single trade. Duties of this class differ from those of Maintenance Worker by reason of the more skilled nature of the work involved and increased responsibilities. Employees in this class perform their duties with latitude for independent planning and laying out work details in completing assigned projects. The incumbent may either function on a particular task independently or as part of a number of workers performing maintenance and repair tasks of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature. The incumbent does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the application form:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by NYS Department of Education, AND:
  • Two (2) YEARS of experience in general building construction or maintenance activities involving application of carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades techniques AND
  • Eligibility for an appropriate level New York State driver's license at time of application; possession of license at time of appointment
  • OR any equivalent combination of training and experience above

Special requirement:

At time of appointment must possess a valid New York State Driver's License appropriate to the vehicles operated. Candidates must be a legal resident of Montgomery County.
