Job Overview

Fairview is looking for an Advanced Nutrition Aide to join our team at our University of MN Medical Center East Bank in Minneapolis, MN.  The Advanced Nutrition Aide guides customers through room service process by phone and communicates with hospital staff regarding diet order information.

Location: Fairview East Bank University Hospital, located in Minneapolis 

Hours: 24 hours biweekly

Schedule: day/evening shift 10:45am-6:45pm

Week 1:

None

Week 2:

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Schedule may change based on the needs of the operation.


Responsibilities

  • Ability to explain diet order to patient or staff.
  • Knowledge of specific nutrients in food.
  • Understanding of dietary needs with modified diets.
  • Understanding of culturally specific food choices.
  • Ability to identify foods in relation to patient allergies.
  • Ability to determine appropriate food choices for therapeutic diets.


Required Qualifications

  • less than 1 year Six months customer service experience and six months office equipment/computer experience. (Confirmed completion of formal training in office/computer software/hardware may substitute for the office/computer experience.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in English
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking and negotiation/persuasion skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to provide consistent outstanding customer service
  • Successful completion with a passing grade of 80% of the Diet Comprehension Training Program within four weeks
  • Free of any corrective action for six months

Preferred Qualifications

  • College level nutrition or hospitality related coursework completion greater than or equal to the second year of a four-year degree program or
  • A graduate of a two-year program
  • Previous experience in a healthcare food service department, working in the diet office or directly with patients to provide the appropriate meal to meet their diet specifications
  • Previous experience in the front of house operations of healthcare, hotels restaurants or country clubs
  • Previous experience as a switch board operator, telemarketer or customer service technician
