Summary of Position: The Nursing Lab Assistant supports the daily operations of the nursing simulation and skills laboratories by preparing, maintaining, and organizing equipment, supplies, and learning spaces. This position assists faculty with setting up, resetting, and dismantling simulation scenarios to provide students with realistic, hands-on learning experiences. The Nursing Lab Assistant helps ensure simulation and skills laboratories are organized, functional, and ready for instruction, contributing to a safe, effective, and engaging learning environment for nursing students.
Position Type: Student
Position Requirements: Dependable and punctual.
Ability to work independently after training.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable learning new technology.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding simulation scenarios and student activities.
Ability to lift up to 30-40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assist with the setup and tear-down of nursing simulation scenarios.
Reset simulation scenarios between student groups.
Make patient beds and prepare manikins for simulation exercises.
Clean, disinfect, and maintain simulation manikins and task trainers according to manufacturer guidelines.
Restock supplies in simulation rooms, medication carts, and skills lab.
Organize and inventory supplies.
Assist with assembling IV bags, tubing, medication labels, wound care supplies, and other teaching materials.
Assist faculty with equipment setup including patient monitors, IV pumps, and audiovisual equipment.
Learn simulation software and computer equipment used for patient scenarios.
Help maintain organization and cleanliness of simulation and skills laboratory spaces.
Help move manikins, equipment, and furniture to prepare for open labs and simulation scenarios.
Perform other simulation and laboratory support duties as assigned
