Job description

JOB TITLE: Part Time Clinic Registered Nurse

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: BHS Clinics

SUPERVISOR: Nurse Manager, Health Services

PAY GRADE: 82 $32.00 - $38.30 (commensurate with education and experience)

FLSA STATUS: NON EXEMPT

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager, Health Services, the Clinic Nurse will promote the health and wellness of all the clients at the Villa of Hope Behavioral Health Clinics, and provide care requirements in accordance with regulating bodies.

The Clinic Nurse may be asked to participate in orientation of new hires and provide observations for nursing students. The Clinic Nurse will demonstrate and be accountable to the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Exercises full compliance with the Justice Center’s Code of Conduct for People with Special Needs
  • Exercises full compliance with Agency Code of Conduct, all Agency policies and procedures and Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Performs nursing assessments with new intakes, including accurately obtaining vital signs, height/weight and waist circumference as applicable
  • Completes communicable risk assessments
  • Obtains health and psychiatric records and health monitoring data
  • Accurately documents nursing data in an electronic clinical record
  • Orders and administers medications (as per orders from an NP or MD); accepts and organizes pharmacy deliveries
  • Organizes medication preauthorization process and obtains these authorizations.
  • Documents information using Villa of Hope forms and systems
  • Performs additional duties, within the scope of license, as necessary and requested by the leadership of clinics/supervisor.
  • Effectively communicates with a multidisciplinary team
  • Responsible for ongoing assessment, evaluations, triage, harm reduction teaching, stabilization of SUD and Mental Health clients.

ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Follow guidelines in accordance with regulations as required by the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the NYS Office of Mental Health Services (OMH)
  • Manage Medline requests, checking NYS PMP website for last filled of controlled substances, queueing of medications to the providers to sign
  • retrieval and Response to pharmacy fax requests
  • Prior Authorizations: Initial request through completion
  • Administration and documentation of Sublocade, Vivitrol, and Long Acting IM medications
  • Initiate refill requests with specialty pharmacy for injections, including insurance verification
  • Documentation and inventory of medications received from specialty pharmacies
  • Quarterly destruction of medications completed with proper paperwork filled out and filed if audited.
  • Create lab requests for providers for urine
  • Health Screening assessments for new clients and intakes
  • Assessing and treatment of urgent medical needs of staff/client in clinic (BP Checks/Wound Care/Temp/assessments of health

Assist clients with obtaining PCPs

  • Assist client with recertification of Medicaid yearly and assist them with any information needed.
  • In collaboration with the NPs Submission of schools notes and paperwork
  • Manage clinic inventory: medical supplies
  • Participation in treatment team meetings daily/weekly basis
  • New staff orientation to the clinic RN role.
  • Organize yearly in-services for Sublocade and Vivitrol with pharmacy representatives for clinic staff
  • On-call triage for Villa Of Hope 24 hour residential programs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing/Walking: Standing and walking is required for the majority of time; nurses must be able to walk around throughout shift (including hills, stairs, and inclement weather conditions)
  • Lifting: Regular lifting of medical supplies, medications, patient supplies, and patient charts, all weighing up to twenty pounds is required
  • Bending: Bending is required when administering patient care; one must be able to bend to touch the floor to remove environmental hazards
  • Kneeling: Squatting is required when operating medical equipment and performing aspects of patient care, such as CPR.
  • Demonstrates, promotes and practices diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in relation to clients and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training, individual supervision and Agency cultural activities.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

Education:

  • NYS RN licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year post-licensure nursing experience, preferably within psychiatric, mental health, or substance use disorder outpatient setting preferred
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification preferred

Skills:

  • CPR/First Aid, BLS Certified
  • Narcan training a plus
  • Experience with electronic medical record documentation and all basic nursing skills within the scope of a licensure
  • Travel between Villa of Hope main campus and outpatient clinic site(s) necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software such as Word, Excellus, Outlook, etc.
