Job Description Summary

The Information Technology Education (ITE) prepares students for careers within computer programming, network administration, computer support and other technical occupations in the information technology field. The Information Technology Education Program at Santa Fe College currently offers eight certificate programs, four Associate of Science degrees and one Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework, such as Introduction to College Computing (CGS1000) and Computer Concepts (CGS1060), as well as coursework in programming languages and database management courses. The Adjunct Assistant Professor must have the flexibility to teach courses during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. This is an in-person, onsite position. *This position does not offer remote availability
The part-time instructional service rate for Information Technology Education Biotechnology, Central Sterile Processing Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Dental, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Graphic Design and Digital Media programs is $986 per semester credit hour.

Responsibilities and Duties Include:
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.

  • Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.

  • Collaborates with the Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.

  • Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.

  • Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.

  • Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.

  • Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.

  • Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.

  • Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.

  • Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.

  • Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.

  • Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:A master's degree or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any academic major in Computer Science or Information Technology such as Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Science, Curriculum & Instruction, Cybersecurity, Decision & Information Technology, Digital Forensics, Educational Technology, Information Security Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Programming and Analysis, Security Informatics, Security Management, Technology Management, Computer Education, Education in Learning Design & Technology, Information Assurance, Information & Cybersecurity, Internet Services, and Technology & Communication. Three (3) to five (5) year of work-related experience in the field with demonstrated evidence of proficiency is also required.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:Five (5) years of progressive work experience in Information Technology and two (2) years of related teaching experience are preferred.
