Full-Time/ Day Shift / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Premier Health is seeking an experienced Risk Manager - REGISTERED NURSE to join our Risk Management team in Dayton, Ohio. This key leadership role is focused on advancing patient safety, quality outcomes, and risk reduction across Premier Health and Premier Physician Network. The Nurse Risk Manager serves as a trusted consultant and partner to physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical leaders, and operational teams, fostering a culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.
This position offers significant opportunities to collaborate directly with physicians in evaluating clinical events, addressing patient safety concerns, supporting disclosure conversations, and developing proactive strategies that improve care delivery while reducing organizational risk. If you are passionate about patient advocacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving meaningful change, this role provides an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact across the healthcare system.
Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate patient safety and organizational risks across Premier Health and Premier Physician Network.
  • Lead system and hospital-level risk identification, mitigation, education, and training initiatives, with active physician engagement and participation.
  • Facilitate collaborative reviews of adverse events, patient complaints, and safety concerns, working directly with physicians to identify improvement opportunities and reduce future risk.
  • Serve as a trusted resource and consultant to physicians regarding risk management best practices, documentation standards, informed consent, disclosure of unanticipated outcomes, and event management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain proactive risk management strategies that support high-quality patient care and physician practice excellence.
  • Manage the litigation process for claims and lawsuits involving Premier Health, coordinating with physicians, legal counsel, insurers, and organizational leadership.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders and multidisciplinary teams on initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes, reduce liability exposure, and protect organizational assets.
  • Support policy development, regulatory compliance efforts, and clinical practice improvement initiatives through strong physician and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Analyze risk trends and clinical data to identify emerging concerns and partner with physicians to implement evidence-based solutions that enhance patient safety and care quality.

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY: successful candidates should live within one hour driving distance from Dayton, Ohio. While we do offer a hybrid work arrangement, you will often need to come to the office in-person.
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
    • Master's degree in a related healthcare or business field preferred.
    • *Years of experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
  • Current Ohio Registered Nursing License
  • 3-5 years of job-related experience with progressive management in healthcare
  • Preferred: Background in professional nursing law or insurance/claims
