Summary:
The Informatics Clinical Data Curator is responsible for navigating various healthcare systems and databases to review patient records and curate data related to a specific disease and/or project. The Informatics Clinical Data Curator must be able to work with multiple teams and business unites simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities. The Informatics Clinical Data Curator must have an in-depth knowledge of oncology and hematology and a passion for delivering healthcare insights to improve patient care. The Informatics Clinical Data Curator is an influential member of the Informatics team and acts a subject matter expect in all clinical data elements and assists in bringing an infinite mindset as to the art of the possible from a 'trusted data' perspective.
Please note the following:
  • This is a 1099 contract worker position
  • Minimum of 20 hours a week required, could be up to 40 depending on needs
  • OCN required
  • Can work weekends or odd hours after initial M-F training (1-2 weeks)
  • There is no opportunity for this to transition to a full-time position at this time.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manually review patient charts to curate data from unstructured data sources
  • Determine what information is available discretely verses non-discretely in FCS systems
  • Define data element requirements to assist in SQL queries for structured data
  • Organize data from multiple sources, including retrospective and concurrent medical record curation
  • Critical thinking skills required to determine the "source of truth" when encountering conflicting data
  • Critical thinking and logic skills with attention to detail and ability to identify root case for data anomalies and data quality issues
  • Assist with protocol design and writing

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
  • Healthcare professional degree qualification (RN, Ph.D., MD., CPhT., MA) highly preferred
  • A minimum of an associate level degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in healthcare, business analytics, management information systems or another related field is required
  • Oncology Certified Nurse certification (or similar oncology certification) is preferred

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology or hematology is required
  • Basic understanding of ICD-10 coding is required
  • Experience with OncoEMR is preferred
