On a daily basis, they prepare and calibrate equipment, closely coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR staff, and respond quickly to changing patient needs during complex procedures. This vital position ensures patient safety and supports surgical teams in delivering high-quality care throughout cardiovascular interventions.
A Nurse Perfusionist is a specialized healthcare professional who operates heart-lung machines and other advanced equipment during cardiac surgeries and other medical procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to monitor and maintain a patient’s blood circulation, oxygenation, and other vital functions.
