Job description

Primary Scheduled Hours: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period, salaried.

Job Summary: The Nurse Manager, under the general direction of the Director of Nursing, plays a vital leadership role overseeing Surgery, Labor & Delivery, and Outpatient Services. This position is responsible for managing daily operations, supervising nursing and support staff, and ensuring high-quality, continuous care across a 2 delivery room L&D department, 1 surgical and 1 procedural room in our surgery department that includes Orthopedic, General surgery, Gynecology, Colonoscopy and Podiatry Services. This position is also responsible for our Outpatient Service that included but not limited to IV Infusions, Wound Care, PICC or Port Care, etc.

With 24-hour accountability, the Nurse Manager plans, coordinates, and evaluates patient care services to meet clinical and organizational goals. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, direct patient care when needed, performance evaluations, and fostering effective communication among staff, providers, and hospital leadership. The role also involves driving performance improvement initiatives, participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, helping to develop the annual departmental budget, and monitoring expenditures. The Nurse Manager helps interpret and implement hospital policies, supports staff development, and promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence in care delivery.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinates daily operations and activities of Surgery Unit, Labor & Deliver and Outpatient Services.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Nursing (DNS) to ensure consistency in implementation of policies and procedures, ensure target goals are in accordance with District Plans, and provide data.
  • Supports the DNS to ensure efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
  • Manages and mentors’ staff to ensure their performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities.
  • Ensures department compliance with applicable agencies.
  • Maintains departmental Policies and Procedures that are evidence based and align with current standards of practice

Education Background and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Active Washington State or accepted muti-state Registered Nurse Licensure.

BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP

Required Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Nurse Manager.

Leadership or management experience in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s preferred, AORN, CAPA or CPAN certification

  • Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
