Nurse Internship information
What types of responsibilities and hands-on experiences can I expect during a nurse internship?
What does a nurse internship do?
What is the difference between Nurse Internship vs Nurse Residency?
| Aspect | Nurse Internship | Nurse Residency |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically enrolled nursing students or recent graduates | Registered nurses with licensure, completing advanced training |
| Work Environment | Hospitals, clinics, or healthcare facilities, often in training settings | Hospitals or specialized units, with more clinical responsibilities |
| Purpose | To gain practical experience and fulfill educational requirements | To transition from education to independent practice and develop skills |
| Duration | Usually a few months, part-time or full-time | Typically 6-12 months, full-time |
While both Nurse Internships and Nurse Residencies provide valuable clinical experience, internships are generally for students or recent graduates gaining initial exposure, whereas residencies are structured programs for licensed nurses seeking to refine their skills and transition into independent practice.
