What is a Nurse 1099 Remote?

A Nurse 1099 Remote position refers to a nursing job where the nurse works remotely, often from home, and is classified as a 1099 independent contractor rather than a traditional employee. This means the nurse provides services to healthcare organizations or telehealth companies but is responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Remote 1099 nurses may perform duties such as telehealth consultations, case management, patient education, or chart review, depending on the employer's needs. This arrangement offers flexibility but also requires nurses to manage their own schedules, taxes, and sometimes their own equipment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Nurse 1099 Remote?

To thrive as a Nurse 1099 Remote, you need an active RN license, strong clinical judgment, and experience in telehealth or remote patient care. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, EHR systems, and secure communication tools is typically required. Strong self-motivation, excellent verbal communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure effective, compliant, and patient-centered care delivery in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Nurse 1099 Remote professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Nurse 1099 Remote professionals often encounter challenges such as managing their own schedules, maintaining clear communication with care teams, and staying up-to-date with patient information without direct in-person contact. To address these, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, become proficient with telehealth and electronic health record (EHR) systems, and proactively communicate with both patients and healthcare colleagues. Building a reliable home workspace and establishing clear boundaries between work and personal time can also help remote nurses maintain productivity and job satisfaction.

Job description

Role Overview: 1099 Virtual Care Neurologist

Local Infusion is building a virtual neurology clinic, designed to bring disease-modifying anti-amyloid therapy to patients who have long faced barriers to specialty access. This is a chance to help define what technology-enabled care for Alzheimer's disease looks like as the program scales, from patient selection criteria and ARIA monitoring protocols to the clinical standards that will govern it going forward. We're recruiting part-time, fully remote neurologists to provide direct patient care and help shape that clinical direction, with real input into the infrastructure behind what could become a new model for amyloid-targeting treatment access for patients.

We are seeking a Neurologist who is licensed in Connecticut to provide virtual neurology care to Local Infusion patients, with a focus on memory care and dementia-related conditions. This is a contract, patient-facing clinical role; delivering high-quality, compassionate virtual care to increase patient access and reduce time to treatment.
