Job description

The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in UVA's School of Education seeks applicants for multiple wage Data Collector positions. The Data Collector assists with field-based activities of multiple CASTL projects, as assigned, which typically include 1:1 direct student assessment, data entry, and data upload using project guidelines.
Areas for hire include Carroll, Frederick, Patrick, Scott, Washington, and Wise counties.
High School diploma (or equivalent) AND one year of experience working with children in an educational setting or an out-of-school setting (such as a summer camp or an after-school program) is required. A bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or related field is preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organization skills and attention to detail; and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population are essential. Ability to use and troubleshoot technology is required. In addition, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word), use of the internet, proficiency with laptops, tablets and/or PCs, and experience uploading/downloading information using cloud storage platforms is required.
The position may be listed as remote because it is not on campus at UVA. Travel to participating schools using own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. Availability minimum of 3 full days (8am-3pm) per week is preferred.
Anticipated pay ranges from $18-22/per hour. Training is provided (in Charlottesville) and sessions may include a combination of video-conference and in-person meetings.
