Warehouse Lead / Switcher Driver – 2nd Shift
We are currently seeking a Warehouse Lead / Switcher Driver to join our warehouse operations team. This position is responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving activities while safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard. The role supports overall warehouse flow, documentation accuracy, safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
2nd Shift – Monday to Thursday (Four-10-days plus overtime as needed)
05:30 PM to 04:00 AM
Pay Rate $19.00 Per Hour
Responsibilities
Shipping, Receiving & Warehouse Coordination
  • Inspect Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities according to schedule.
  • Check in drivers for live-load pickups and process all shipping documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute complete paperwork packets for driver pickup.
  • Coordinate deliveries and complete associated shipping paperwork.
  • Assign loads to forklift operators to ensure efficient loading operations.
  • Accurately enter shipping and receiving data into SAGE and Nulogy systems.
  • Monitor dock activity and support proper trailer placement and flow.
  • Track inventory and maintain accurate shipping/receiving records.
  • Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner throughout the shift.
Yard Switching & Equipment Operations
  • Safely move empty and loaded trailers within yard and dock areas.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers and position them at designated dock doors.
  • Conduct yard checks, dock inspections, and trailer placement verification.
  • Communicate with warehouse staff using two-way radios.
  • Inspect trailers and equipment for safety before movement.
  • Complete yard movement logs and required documentation accurately.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies during equipment operation.
  • Maintain awareness of yard traffic and safe operating practices at all times.
  • Support facility security and ensure yard remains clean and free of hazards.
  • Report all safety incidents, accidents, or violations immediately.
General Responsibilities
  • Perform routine walkthroughs of docks, warehouse, and yard areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Support a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Valid North Carolina Class A Driver’s License required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating a yard switcher/terminal tractor in tight or confined spaces.
  • At least 1 year of experience performing safety checks and preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Warehouse and shipping/receiving office experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety and OSHA compliance.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor yard conditions, varying noise levels, and warehouse environments.
