What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an NTP (Network Time Protocol) Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an NTP Engineer, you need a solid understanding of networking fundamentals, time synchronization protocols, and often a relevant degree in computer science or information technology. Proficiency with network monitoring tools, NTP server/client configuration, and familiarity with operating systems like Linux are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for diagnosing and resolving time-related network issues. These competencies ensure precise timekeeping across networked systems, which is critical for security, data integrity, and overall system reliability.

What are the main responsibilities of an NTP (Network Time Protocol) Engineer on a typical day?

An NTP Engineer is primarily responsible for configuring, maintaining, and monitoring time synchronization systems across an organization's network. On a typical day, you might troubleshoot synchronization issues, ensure time servers are properly patched and secure, and work closely with network and security teams to maintain accurate and reliable time sources. The role often includes documenting configurations, performing audits of time synchronization accuracy, and participating in projects to upgrade or expand time infrastructure. Collaboration with IT and compliance teams is common, as precise timekeeping is crucial for system logs, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.

What are NTPs?

NTP stands for Network Time Protocol, which is a networking protocol used to synchronize clocks of computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks. NTP is essential for ensuring accurate timekeeping across computers and devices in a network, which is critical for time-sensitive applications, security protocols, and logging events. NTP servers distribute precise time to client devices, typically using highly accurate reference clocks like atomic clocks or GPS. Network administrators or IT professionals often manage NTP configurations to maintain network reliability and security.

Job description

National Truck Protection / Premium 2000

Location: Remote or Winston-Salem, NC
Department: Direct-to-Consumer & Missed Sales
Reports to: Manager, DTC Sales

About the Role

Are you a high-energy, go-getter, self-starter who loves closing deals over the phone?
Do you excel in fast-paced environments where your hustle = income?

National Truck Protection (NTP), the industry leader in commercial truck service contracts, is expanding our high-performance Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) team. Weโ€™re hiring motivated Virtual/Phone Sales Agents who thrive on winning, love helping customers, and arenโ€™t afraid to pick up the phone and make things happen.

Youโ€™ll work warm leads, inbound calls, and missed sales from our national dealer networkโ€”backed by our new TruckIQ digital ecosystem.

This is a role for someone who wants to move fast, earn big, and grow quickly.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Engage customers through outbound calls, inbound leads, and follow-up conversationsโ€”owning the sales cycle from first contact to close.
  • Jump on high-intent opportunities from our dealers (missed contracts, turn-downs, inventory activity).
  • Use our structured T/O system to get support, sharpen every pitch, and increase close rates.
  • Manage a fast-paced daily workflow: high call volume, strong follow-up discipline, accurate CRM notes.
  • Learn NTPโ€™s product suite and confidently explain protection plans, coverage, and benefits.
  • Hit and exceed monthly KPIsโ€”including sales volume, close rate, and contact efficiency.
  • Leverage Salesforce, HubSpot, and TruckIQ insights to prioritize leads and maximize conversions.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • High-energy, competitive, self-starter who doesnโ€™t wait to be told what to do.
  • 1โ€“3 years of inside sales, phone sales, call center, or automotive/trucking/F&I experience preferred.
  • Strong phone presence with the ability to connect quickly and build trust.
  • Comfortable working with goals, structure, accountability, and performance metrics.
  • Quick learnerโ€”able to absorb product knowledge and turn it into value-driven conversations.
  • Resilient and hungryโ€”you love the chase and the close.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus.

What We Offer

  • Base draw + uncapped commission
  • Full benefits package
  • Paid training with rapid ramp-up support
  • Clear career paths: Senior Agent โ†’ Team Lead โ†’ Virtual F&I
  • A high-growth environment with strong support from marketing, analytics, and dealer partnerships
  • Culture rooted in performance, teamwork, and customer care

Who Wins in This Role

  • Go-getters who donโ€™t wait for permission
  • High-energy phone pros who love selling
  • Self-starters who thrive with autonomy and accountability
  • People who want to earn what theyโ€™re worth, not what theyโ€™re given
  • Agents who bring urgency, hustle, and follow-through every day
