Job description

IMS Voice (Primary) and Messaging. We require hands-on troubleshooting experience rather than just deployment.
The Core Ops Engineer will maintain the resiliency and operational aspects. Will analyze service and system issues, determine root-cause for failure and develop corrective actions. Corrective actions can range from configuration changes to developing new operational procedures. Will contribute to on-going process improvement reviews using Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics to eliminate errors, maximize hardware/software efficiencies and increase service up-time leading to an overall excellent customer experience.
 
In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical troubleshooting expertise in resolving the incidents escalated to your organization

  • Be the subject matter expert for Messaging [both SMS and MMS] and Voicemail solutions. Mavenir product expertize is preferred. Additionally 911, LI [Calea], Nokia SDL, Oracle Packet Core is a plus

  • Handle Outages/Service degradations, perform initial RCA and coordinate with vendors, Engineering teams to compose final RCA.

  • Lead troubleshooting bridges with internal & vendor teams as needed.

  • Engage and escalate issues with Core Tier III / Engineering team when critical, time sensitive support and resolution is needed.

  • Work with technical teams to document troubleshooting steps and methods to improve processes.

  • Provide lead support with Market Teams to troubleshoot/resolve complex issues

  • Engage and escalate issues with vendors when critical/time sensitive support and resolution is needed.

  • Develop key metrics for performance monitoring and service assurance.

  • Closely working with the vendors for Incident resolution and RCA

  • Knowledge of SA Core, Edge, RAN, Transport, Virtual/Cloud environments, orchestration and FCAPS platforms.

  • Work on the 5G Standalone Core Network functions (NRF, BSF, NSSF, SEPP, NEF, SCP & PCF) , IMS & Messaging domains.

  • Engage with the engineering teams from DISH & vendors in helping triage & debug complex network activities

  • Work with our performance engineering teams & NOC to establish and continuously enhance the baseline KPIs required to measure the health of our network.

  • Engage and escalate issues with the Tier II & III team when critical/time-sensitive support and resolution are needed.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • This position may provide on-call support on a rotational basis.

 
 
Skills, Experience & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering

  • 5 to 10 years of experience working within the Wireless industry on either the carrier or vendor side of the house.

  • Expertise in Mavenir SMSC, MMSC product solutions

  • Strong knowledge of one or more Core Network solutions for 911, LI [Calea], Nokia SDL, Oracle nodes [NRF, PCF, BSF].

  • Knowledge of Edge, RAN, Transport, Virtual/Cloud environments, orchestration and FCAPS platforms.

  • Cloud-native experience in AWS environment preferred.

  • Curious-minded, striving for continuous learning and innovation

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of Core Network solutions for 4G/5G (SA).

  • Nokia, Mavenir and Oracle experience should be an advantage.

  • Ability to analyze a high volume of technical data and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and time management skills.
