Job description

What We're Looking For
Novant Health is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to help launch our new Psychiatry Clinic in Wilmington, opening Summer of 2027. This innovative outpatient practice will expand access to high-quality behavioral health care while fostering the development of future healthcare professionals through integrated clinical education.
In this role, you will provide and supervise comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning for a diverse patient population. You will also serve as a valued educator and mentor, working alongside residents, medical students, and other learners in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.
We are looking for a physician who is passionate about ambulatory psychiatry, committed to excellence in education, and eager to help shape a new practice from the ground up.
Opportunity Highlights:
  • Primarily in-person practice schedule with 5 days per week on site with time divided between resident supervision, direct care for your own patient panel, teaching, and administrative time. *Occasional remote opportunities could be possible.
  • Interventional psychiatry opportunities including ECT and TMS
  • Potential for leadership development

Candidate Qualifications:
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Outpatient clinic hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Patient Population: Adult psychiatrists care for patients 18+
  • On-Call Duty: Clinic all will be shared on a rotating basis with other Novant Health psychiatrists
  • APP supervision

Novant Health Psychiatry Institute delivers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adults, adolescents, and children across the Charlotte, Triad, and Coastal regions of North Carolina. Our team of psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, psychologists and licensed therapists completed ~3 44 ,000 encounters and ~8,600 inpatient discharges in 202 5 . The team provides expert care for depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders, suicidal ideation and behaviors, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions.
In the Coastal region , Novant Health Psychiatry Institute provides a comprehensive continuum of care, including a 62-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit, emergency department psychiatric services, and consultation-liaison psychiatry support for hospitalized medical and surgical patients. The program integrates behavioral health into primary care and specialty clinics through co-located and collaborative care models to improve access and outcomes. Advanced treatment options include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) planned as part of ongoing expansion efforts.
