What We're Looking For
Novant Health Psychiatric Medicine - Shallotte is seeking an Outpatient Psychiatrist to join our team!
Opportunity Highlights:
  • Hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days in office, remaining days remote work with video visits
  • Primary psychiatrist in practice, work with an APP and licensed social worker
  • Preference for Advanced Practice Provider (APP) supervision is preferred

Candidate Qualifications:
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Outpatient clinic hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Patient Population: 18+
  • On-Call Duty: Up to 2 weeks per year

Novant Health Psychiatry Institute delivers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adults, adolescents, and children across the Charlotte, Triad, and Coastal regions of North Carolina. Our team of psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, psychologists and licensed therapists completed ~344,000 encounters and ~8,600 inpatient discharges in 2025. The team provides expert care for depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders, suicidal ideation and behaviors, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions.
In the Coastal region, Novant Health Psychiatry Institute provides a comprehensive continuum of care, including a 62-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit, emergency department psychiatric services, and consultation-liaison psychiatry support for hospitalized medical and surgical patients. The program integrates behavioral health into primary care and specialty clinics through co-located and collaborative care models to improve access and outcomes. Advanced treatment options include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) planned as part of ongoing expansion efforts.
