Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mechanical Engineer in Conroe, TX will be responsible for sustaining existing product lines throughout their lifecycles. This role ensures continued success of assigned product lines by implementing design improvements, resolving production and field issues, providing technical support to sales, creating and maintaining technical documentation. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with globally dispersed colleges in engineering, R&D, manufacturing, field services and operations, supply chain, quality, and sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge and general engineering principles to the design and engineering of solids control equipment.
  • Provide engineering support to existing products, including design maintenance, component substitutions, and manufacturing support. 
  • Identify and assess compliance with / application of relevant industry standards, certification, and end user requirements.
  • Work with drafters, designers, and other engineers, as assigned, to lead or participate in team efforts.
  • Prepare, check, or approve engineering and technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and procedures, in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Responsible for self-workload to plan and schedule ensuring all deadlines are achieved. 
  • Advocate for safety and quality in all product line decisions ensuring products meet stringent industry standards.
  • Manage engineer design changes by communicating and implementing changes with all internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Conduct investigations to identify root causes of product performance issues.
  • Infrequent travel to field operations and other manufacturing locations.
  • Work in a methodical, structured, and safe manner within guidelines set by NOV. 
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by line manager. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Processing or related engineering field.
    • Five (5) years of relevant experience in lieu of formal educational.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • The ability to suggest/adapt/implement changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Report in-person to work location in Conroe, TX.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)

PREFERRED:

  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Solidworks, Teamcenter, JD Edwards
  • Experience with GD&T, engineering drawing, or wiring diagrams.
  • Manufacturing experience in assembly, welding, or powder coating.
  • Troubleshooting Mechanical and Electrical equipment experience.
  • Experience managing projects independently.
