What is the difference between Notary Event vs Notary Signing Agent?

AspectNotary EventNotary Signing Agent
CredentialsNotary commission, sometimes specific to eventsNotary commission + signing agent certification
Work EnvironmentEvent locations, public venues, private gatheringsLoan signing appointments, client homes, offices
Employer & IndustryIndividuals, event organizers, companies hosting eventsTitle companies, signing services, lenders
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding event-based notary servicesLoan document signing, real estate transactions

While both roles involve notarizing documents, a Notary Event typically refers to notarizations performed during specific events or gatherings, often on a one-time basis. A Notary Signing Agent specializes in loan signings, requiring additional certification and working primarily within the real estate and mortgage industries. The key difference lies in their focus and work setting, with Notary Signing Agents often handling complex financial documents in professional environments.

Can I actually make money as a notary?

Notary events involve providing notarization services, which can generate income through fees charged per signature or document. Earnings depend on factors such as location, the number of clients, and whether you work independently or for a company; many notaries supplement their income by offering mobile services or additional certifications.

What other jobs can you do as a notary?

Notaries can often expand their roles to include loan signing agent, mobile notary, or signing agent, which involve facilitating real estate transactions and document authentication. These positions typically require certification and familiarity with legal and financial documents, and they often involve flexible schedules and travel. Additional opportunities include remote notarizations and administrative roles in legal or financial firms.
