Job description

Regulatory and Compliance Director
Location: Remote | US, UK, EU
About Notabene
Notabene is the trust layer for global money movement.
We power the largest Travel Rule-compliant network of regulated digital asset institutions worldwide, enabling safe, interoperable crypto transactions across jurisdictions.
In addition, Notabene is building the first open stablecoin payments platform for businesses-bringing compliant, programmable digital dollar payments into everyday commerce. As stablecoin and payments regulation evolves globally, regulatory clarity and operational implementation are central to our growth.
The Impact You Will Have
Our Regulatory & Compliance team ensures that Notabene remains ahead of global regulatory developments while shaping responsible, interoperable standards for digital asset and stablecoin-based payments infrastructure.
We are seeking a Regulatory and Compliance Director to establish Notabene as the credible, go-to regulatory authority on Travel Rule implementation and compliant stablecoin infrastructure by building relationships with global regulators and industry associations, producing thought leadership that shapes discourse, and embedding regulatory expertise into our enterprise GTM motion.
Reporting to the VP, Global Regulatory & Compliance Strategy, you will drive policy influence and regulatory engagement; establish Notabene's authority through thought leadership and content; and act as the enterprise-facing regulatory SME. This is an outward-facing role at the intersection of regulatory influence, product alignment, and enterprise trust.
What You'll Do
Your role spans three interconnected strategic pillars:
Policy Influence & Regulatory Engagement
You will be instrumental in shaping the regulatory environment in which Notabene operates.
  • Build relationships with global regulators and supervisory authorities to educate them on Travel Rule infrastructure and stablecoin payment realities.
  • Draft strategic consultation responses and position papers that reflect Notabene's competitive positioning across Travel Rule, AML/CTF, stablecoins, and payments by turning regulatory requirements into actionable strategy.
  • Represent Notabene actively in key industry associations and forums as a thought leader and trusted voice.
  • Develop and evolve Notabene's policy stance on critical topics; monitor global regulatory developments and translate them into internal guidance and product strategy.

Thought Leadership & Authority
You will establish Notabene as the trusted, go-to authority on Travel Rule implementation and compliant stablecoin infrastructure.
  • Produce regulatory thought leadership content-blogs, briefings, explainers, and jurisdictional guides in collaboration with marketing and product teams.
  • Identify and secure speaking opportunities for yourself and executive leadership at key webinars, panels, conferences, and regulatory forums.
  • Conduct in-depth legislative and regulatory research aligned with Notabene's strategic priorities, making complex topics accessible to internal and external audiences.
  • Brief internal executive teams on the impact of new or proposed policies and regulations on our products and practices.
  • Update and expand Notabene's Travel Rule Certification Program to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory standards across jurisdictions.

GTM Enterprise Sales Subject Matter Support
You will convert regulatory credibility into enterprise trust and customer adoption.
  • Embed regulatory expertise into FI/fintech sales cycles-joining pre-sales discovery and positioning calls, answering complex compliance questions, and differentiating Notabene.
  • Support enterprise customers post-sale with compliance strategy, regulatory guidance, and best practices that drive adoption and expansion.
  • Develop regulatory enablement materials for GTM teams to accelerate deal velocity and reduce due diligence friction.
  • Lead go-to-market efforts in priority jurisdictions, collaborating with sales and key stakeholders to position Notabene's regulatory credibility.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, financial services compliance, or government relations
  • Deep knowledge of AML/CTF frameworks, including FATF standards and their implementation across jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with regulators and policymakers-you have relationships and have moved the needle on policy
  • Strong understanding of global digital asset regulation, including Travel Rule requirements and emerging regulatory frameworks for stablecoins and payments
  • Proven ability to translate complex regulatory developments into practical, business-aligned guidance
  • Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills-you can explain nuance without jargon
  • Experience within fintech, digital asset, payments, or regtech-you understand the ecosystem
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills in fast-paced, technology-driven environments; you can navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes amid evolving priorities

Nice to Have
  • Prior experience at a regulator, supervisory authority, or international organization
  • Established network within regulatory bodies or industry associations
  • Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles with regulatory advisory expertise
  • Published regulatory research, position papers, or policy commentary
Why You'll Thrive Here
You lead through expertise. At Notabene, we believe the best leaders are experts who teach and inspire others. You'll be expected to set standards for regulatory rigor, bring deep domain knowledge to every conversation, and mentor the team.
You own outcomes. We don't wait for perfect information or universal consensus. You'll take ownership of regulatory relationships, thought leadership, sales support, and strategy-and you'll see them through.
You're genuinely curious. You care about understanding regulator perspectives, FI/fintech constraints, and market dynamics. You meet people where they are-whether that's a compliance officer at a traditional bank or a founder building on-chain infrastructure.
You think end-to-end. You'll work seamlessly across regulatory influence, thought leadership, sales, product, and marketing. You don't optimize your function at the expense of the company mission.
Our Commitment to You
Notabene is building the trust layer for global money movement. We're expanding into institutional markets (banks, fintechs, traditional finance) at a critical moment. Your regulatory expertise and credibility will be central to this growth.
You'll have:
  • Direct impact on Notabene's positioning with regulators, enterprises, and the broader industry
  • Autonomy to own regulatory strategy, policy engagement, and thought leadership
  • Cross-functional partnerships with product, engineering, sales, and leadership teams
  • Visibility as a trusted voice in regulatory and industry forums
  • Resources to build relationships, conduct research, and produce high-quality content
  • Growth opportunity as Notabene scales from regulatory infrastructure leader to the primary stablecoin payment network for institutions globally
Our Culture
Notabene operates at the intersection of multiple complex domains-crypto, TradFi, compliance, payments, identity. We succeed by finding the elegant middle: solutions simple enough to execute quickly but rich enough to capture essential complexity.
We value:
  • Experts leading Experts - deep domain knowledge + teaching others
  • Own It & Do It - ownership, decisiveness, and follow-through
  • Be Curious - genuine understanding of customers, regulators, and market context
  • One Team, One Goal - company mission over functional wins
  • Ethical Technology - compliance isn't a constraint; it's our competitive advantage
Location & Travel
  • Must overlap US and EU time zones (non-negotiable for regulatory engagement and customer support)
  • Hybrid or remote; travel required for regulatory meetings, conferences, and customer engagement

Apply Today!
If you strongly believe this role is for you, please apply. Notabene considers a broad array of candidates, including those without blockchain experience. Whether you're returning to work after a gap in employment, or taking the next step in your career path, we will be glad to have you on our radar.
