Job description

NMC is currently recruiting a MA in Northwestern Endo. The position is full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), generally M-F 7:30a-4:30p. JOB SUMMARY:
• The Medical Assistant is scheduled to cover in respective surgical or medical clinics. The Medical Assistant assists the Physician or Provider with daily operations of the clinic. Provides direct patient care rooming patients, updating electronic health record, performing necessary ordered procedures, and visit preparation as indicated or requested. Assists in throughput of the clinic.
PRE-REQUISITES:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. MA certification required.
Experience: Prior medical experience required.
Other: Excellent computer, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Able to problem solve and suggest improvements to work processes. Must perform work with a high level of accuracy. Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred. Must be willing to cross train to the Patient Access Representative role and perform clerical duties as needed, as well as cross train and assist in other departments within Physician Services.

• Efficiently and accurately performs clinical duties to ensure quality service in support of NMC's mission of providing exceptional care to the community.
    • Prepares and assures rooms are ready for patient examinations
      • Ensure patient rooms and equipment are cleaned to maintain infection control standards

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Medical Assistant supports all Diagnostic Imaging staff in the daily operations of the department. Duties include but are not limited to: patient care, patient transport, stocking and cleaning of exam rooms, assisting in the performance of stress testing, and EMR/PACS documentation. This position will be trained to start IV's in some modalities and must successfully complete the NMC IV Course including ongoing competency in starting

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
Experience: One year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.

  • Physical Demands:
    • Occasional: lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, standing, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching(80"), downward pull and upward push of 50 lbs., carrying up to 30 lbs. Frequent: forward reaching(28"), sitting, pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs., lifting table extension up to 4lbs, carrying up to 30lbs., seeing/flexion of neck. Constant: walking, handling, fingering.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Exposure to electrical, mechanical and radiant energy hazards, possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. Exposure to crisis situations and unpleasant elements of acute traumatic injuries, occasional stress due to work load and competing priorities. Occasional subject to irregular hours. Occasional stress/pressure due to Operating Room, Inpatient, or Emergency stat exams. Exposure to cleaning agents.

    • Plastic/lead aprons (full bib), gloves, gowns, goggles, masks, face shield as situation requires.
