Job description

Summary:

Responsible for assisting patients when discharged, transporting to testing areas and in-patient rooms; stocks and re-stocks oxygen cabinets and closets in the department; picks up supplies and blood products when needed and assists in turning over rooms for the next patient.   

Responsibilities:

1.  Transports patients and secures supplies and equipment as directed

2.  Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly work environment

3.  Participates in setting and attaining department goals

4.  Maintains confidentiality for patients and their families

5.  Utilizes communication skills effectively with patients, families, visitor, medical staff and hospital personnel

6.  Keeps current regarding job related duties through required inservice education and staff meetings

7.  Formulates and uses effective working relationships with all healthcare staff, patients and significant others

8.  Assertively seeks guidance and direction as needed

9.  Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position

10.  Performs other duties as assigned

Education Skills Experience:

Required:

  1. High school Diploma or GED required
  2. BLS/CPR Certification
  3. Must understand and speak conversational English and possess listening and comprehensive skills
  4. Must be able to work with young, sick and physically challenged people

Desired:  Bilingual desired

Minimum Experience:  Zero to 6 months
