Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for delivering food and guest supplies to guests in a pleasant, upbeat and efficient fashion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

  • Participate in all elements of service including duties that are the primary responsibility of support positions, including but not limited to pre-bussing, clearing tables, resetting tables, pouring water, running beverages. 
  • Describes briefly each dish as it is served to the table, stating the name of the dish and 2 notable ingredients.  Answers any additional questions that the guest may have. 
  • Ensure sequence of service is followed for all guests, including proper plate presentation and course delivery.
  • Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior guest service.
  • Provides superior guest service, positively effects interactions with guests and team members, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Maintains a well-groomed, neat, and clean appearance, carrying out duties with attention to sanitation and safety.
  • Anticipates, identifies, and provides for guest needs.
  • Performs inventories and other duties as assigned.
  • Receives clean china, silverware and glassware from dishwashers to polish and stock.
  • Quickly delivers food from the kitchen to guests as instructed by management and chefs.
  • Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to any guest needs.
  • Assist bussers in the setting of tables with clean dishes, glasses and flatware in accordance with approved guest service procedures for fine dining.
  • Assists with other duties at special events or parties and assisting where necessary to include but not limited to carving, cooking, setup and or teardown stations or work areas or other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the culinary team to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare and serve nonalcoholic beverages including but not limited to soda, juice, tea, coffee and espresso beverages. 
  • Perform work regularly and predictably.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work and public spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend seminars when needed.
  • Actively participate in trainings and educational experiences. 
  • Occasionally research product and provide information to educate the service team. 
     

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

At least 2 years of fine-dining or elevated lounge environment food service experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc):

  • Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Indiana Gaming Commission. 
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.
  • Must have and maintain a valid food handlers certification for the state of Indiana.
     

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Excellent menu knowledge, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Table service procedures and table etiquette for fine dining environment.
  • Excellent customer service/ hospitality skills. 
     

ABILITY TO:

  • Present an image of excitement, enthusiasm, and outgoing personality, while being able to project a professional appearance.
  • Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Transport trays and/or plates throughout the restaurant, which may weigh up to 50 pounds, as well as serve food items and beverages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests. 
  • Continue your education as it relates to food, wine, beer, spirits, and service technique.
  • Use machines and equipment including, but not limited to: include beverage dispenser, coffee machine, espresso machine, bread warmer, dishwasher, and cart.

  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.

  • Ability to obtain impressions through the eyes. 
  • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hand above shoulders. 
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds / 25 kilograms.
  • Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion. 
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.
