What is Northern Coffee?

Northern Coffee typically refers to coffee companies, shops, or roasters located in northern regions, such as Northern England, Northern Europe, or the northern parts of North America. These businesses often focus on sourcing high-quality beans and may emphasize sustainability, local culture, and unique roasting profiles suited to colder climates. Northern Coffee can also refer to specific brands or cafes that have built a reputation for their cozy atmospheres and community-focused approach. If you are seeking a particular business named 'Northern Coffee,' it is best to check their website or local listings for more details.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a coffee shop barista, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Coffee Shop Barista, you need strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of coffee preparation, often supported by on-the-job training or experience in food service. Familiarity with espresso machines, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and inventory management tools is typically required. Outstanding communication, multitasking, and teamwork make a barista stand out in a busy environment. These skills ensure efficient operations, high-quality beverages, and excellent customer experiences, which are essential for a successful coffee shop.

ABOUT OUR AGENCY:I opened my agency in October of 2019, just months before COVID reshaped everything. Those early days were challenging, but they strengthened our resilience and set the tone for how we operate today. After spending 10 years as a State Farm team member, I brought deep company experience into building an agency that could weather change and continue to grow. Today, our team includes nine people, and we're actively working toward opening a second location and expanding the team even further.
I was born and raised in Northern Indiana and earned my bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Small Business and Entrepreneurship, along with a double major in Human Resource Management. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Ashley, and we have two boys, James and Michael. Giving back is important to us-we donate time to Cultivate Food Rescue and stay involved in community events throughout the year, including a Cars & Coffee event I host in partnership with the Studebaker National Museum.
For our team, we offer a flexible allowance package that lets employees choose a mix of benefits including health insurance, supplemental coverage, life insurance, and retirement plans, along with unlimited time off. Our culture is intentionally family-focused and team-driven. I lead as a servant leader and work hard to put our people in positions to succeed and advance. We operate with love, grace, and support-paired with accountability, positivity, and a commitment to excellence-because our team deserves it, and so do our customers.
