Position Overview

The Quality Inspector at Power Construction plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, durability, and performance of concrete work across Power's commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects. This position ensures that all concrete materials, placement operations, and finished structures meet Power Construction quality standards, contractual specifications, and ACI (American Concrete Institute) requirements.

The inspector will oversee field activities, validate test results, support project teams, and help maintain Power's long standing commitment to building excellence.

District Overview

TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of concrete mixing, placement, consolidation, finishing, and curing activities to ensure compliance with ACI standards and project specifications.

• Inspect preplacement, placement, and post placement operations per ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector program expectations.

• Verify batch consistency, material quality, and mixture ratios at job sites to ensure concrete performance meets Power's standards.

• Observe and document contractor workmanship, identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.

• Review and verify results of concrete field and laboratory tests performed by ACI certified technicians (Concrete Field Testing Technician — Grade I).

• Conduct blueprint/plans review as part of inspection duties, consistent with ACI plan reading exam requirements.

• Maintain accurate and detailed daily inspection reports, photo documentation, and compliance logs.

• Ensure all concrete work adheres to applicable codes, specifications, and ACI certification program standards.

• Work closely with Power's project managers, superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to communicate issues and develop solutions.

• Assist in implementing best practices for concrete construction and quality control across project teams.

• Support training efforts related to ACI inspection procedures and Power's internal quality program.

Qualifications

• ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector Certification.

• Strong understanding of ACI codes, standards, and certification programs.

• Experience performing concrete inspections or construction quality assurance in the commercial construction sector.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and concrete testing data.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively support project teams.

• High attention to detail, strong problem solving abilities, and the ability to work independently across job sites.

• Prior experience inspecting concrete operations on large commercial, institutional, or design build projects.

• Additional ACI certifications (e.g., Shotcrete Inspection, Concrete Flatwork Finisher, Adhesive Anchor Installer).

• Familiarity with NDT (Nondestructive Testing) methods relevant to concrete quality evaluation.
