Summary:
We have an opening for a full-time, Building Automation Controls Technician II at our New York / New Jersey branch office. The Technician II is responsible for the overall startup, testing/commissioning, documenting of construction projects and to facilitate the timely turnover to the client and the service team. The Technician II will report directly to a team project manager and work closely with the design engineer to ensure they have the tools necessary to be successful on each project. The Technician II will work professionally with both internal and external clients and will have the ability to be a leader within the company.
Responsibilities:
  • Startupand testing of building automation systems.
  • Workingdirectly with clients and subcontractors to facilitatetheinstallation of designed control systems.
  • Developsa systematic planning for complete startup of systems and turnover to service team. Responsiblefor complete documentation of startup process for the system.
  • Responsibleto communicate with the project manager and client to assist in the effective completion of the project.
  • Takesinitiative to find solutions
  • Motivatesothers to perform better
  • Offersand implements ideas for greater efficiency
  • Providesclient training on systems
  • Coordinate the punch-out of front-end system
  • Interfaces with Electrician on coordinationitems
  • Drives project schedule for efficient completion
  • Documentationof tested points / and wiring runs
  • Startup/Testingof terminal unit and air handling unit controllers as well as central plant controllers (HW Systems, CHW Systems, and CW Systems)
  • Communicatedirectives to electrical subcontractors for proper installation of our control components
  • Interfacewith 3rd party manufacturer controls
  • Readwiring diagrams to determine proper terminations to mechanical equipment
  • Terminateand trouble shoot wiring and system components
  • Creationof software points in the controllers
  • Testingof automatic programming sequence
  • Maintainsweekly reports on project progress and open items
  • Demonstrate front-end graphics and operability to clients and commissioning agents
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards
Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate who has previous technician experience within the controls industry. Preference towards Delta Controls systems.
  • Depthof knowledge in mechanical systems and sequences of operations
  • Readingand understand mechanical design documents (duct layouts, piping schematics, riser diagrams)
  • ReadingManufacturer's wire diagrams
  • Experiencedabilities in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Familiaritywith interfacing to third party devices
  • Seekshigh level of quality in theirwork
  • Abilityto work independent or part of a team
  • DemonstratesLeadership among peers
  • Presentsa positive image for the company
  • Seeks to exceed client expectations (internal and external)
  • Required experience: 2-4+ years of experience as a DDC Technician
  • Required education: High School or GED required. Associates degree in HVAC or Control Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
