Key Position Details:

Allina Health's Brain and Spine Institute is expanding its services to include a general outpatient Neurology clinic. The physicians in this role will work collaboratively with a variety of specialists to deliver the highest level of care to the patients in our communities.

  • All physicians will be required to provide one day per month of outreach to a non-metro location.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, clinic hours (approx. 8am - 5pm)

  • A 1.0 FTE includes 4.5 days of clinic and one half-day of administrative time per week

  • Dedicated RNs, CMAs, and scheduling support for the Neurology clinic

  • Access to subspecialists including Neuro Oncology, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, Migraine/Headache, MS/Neuroimmunology, and Dementia. Recruitment efforts are underway for a Neuromuscular subspecialist, as well.

  • H-1B visa support at all locations; J1 visa waiver support at Minneapolis and St. Paul locations only

Job Description:

Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
Diagnosis, treat and consult patients who have a disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures.
Principle Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care.
    • Diagnoses, treats and consults patients who have a disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures.
    • Examines patients mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
    • Performs and interpret basic neurophysiology tests.
    • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
    • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
    • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
    • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Participates in neuroscience research activities.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
    • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
    • May participate in on-call rotation.
  • Quality.
    • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
    • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
  • Completion of an accredited Residency training program in Neurology or foreign equivalent training


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice upon hire required
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Licensed Physician - WI upon hire required
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required


Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $338,310 to $375,900 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
