ABOUT THE ROLE
The Steel Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the steel shop, ensuring production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and with high-quality standards. This role coordinates manpower, materials, and workflows between departments such as engineering, procurement, and drafting to keep projects on track. The supervisor also leads training, enforces policies, and drives continuous improvement through Lean practices while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity.
Salary range $95,000-$105,000/Salary. Based on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Oversees daily operations and workflow within the steel shops
  • Manages production schedules to ensure timely completion of work
  • Determines work sequencing, start times, and shop priorities based on workload
  • Ensures all fabricated products meet established quality standards
  • Coordinates with engineering, drafting, procurement, and foremen to align production needs
  • Oversees inventory tracking and supports monthly inventory processes
  • Submits purchase requisitions for raw materials to procurement as needed
  • Monitors manpower levels and adjusts staffing to align with budget and production demands
  • Leads training efforts for new employees and ongoing workforce development
  • Enforces company policies and safety procedures, including corrective action when necessary

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Welding certification or 2+ years of welding experience
  • OSHA certified (Current)
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or shop environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for team coordination
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop employees in a hands-on environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to act quickly under pressure
  • Basic math skills for measurements, production calculations, and inventory control
  • Ability to organize schedules, manpower, and equipment efficiently
  • Understanding of production processes and workflow coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and adapt to change

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
