Job description

Job Title: System Tester

Location: Houma, LA

Position Overview: A System Tester provides hands-on assistance to the assigned supervisor, performing duties required in the test function, including test preparation, conducting tests, and recording results. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipyard testing processes and the ability to operate and demonstrate ship testing equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in test preparation, conduct tests, and record results.
  • Operate and demonstrate ship testing equipment and processes.
  • Set up all test equipment using hand tools.
  • Conduct and monitor required test functions.
  • Read applicable gauges, detect test problems, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Interpret test results and conduct required repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with shipyard testing processes, such as air, hydro, and non-destructive test methods.
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate ship testing equipment and processes.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of marine/industrial experience in a similar position.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in setting up test equipment and using hand tools.
  • Ability to conduct and monitor test functions accurately.
  • Skill in reading gauges and detecting test problems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to initiate corrective actions.
  • Ability to interpret test results and perform necessary repairs.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
