Job description

CFO Advisory,Accounting Advisory Manager(Not-for-Profit)

As a result of continued growth within our Accounting Advisory practice, we are currently seeking aManagerspecializing in Not-for-Profit (NFP) organizationsfor our national team.

This role offers the flexibility to be remote, with travel as needed for specific projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple client relationships while leading a team of professionals delivering advisory services tailored to not-for-profit entities.This includes consulting ontechnical accounting, financial reporting requirements under U.S. GAAP,including ASC 958, donor restrictions/restricted net assets,and grants/contributions, in addition to finance function buildout, process improvement, and enhancement of finance operations. You will also support complex accounting initiatives and operational improvements whiledemonstratinga passion for client service and advancing the mission-driven goals of our clients' finance organizations.

Our industry-focused teams (including Financial Services; Industrial & Consumer Goods; Private Equity; Professional Services; Real Estate, Construction & Hospitality; Technology & Life Sciences; andNot-for-Profit) provide tailored, practical solutions grounded in experience, enabling clients to address current challenges while preparing for long-term sustainability and impact.

As aManager, you will:

  • Manage client relationshipsand oversee engagement management
  • Assistclients with financial close processes, including improvingmonth-end and year-end close cyclesfor not-for-profit entities
  • Support accounting transitions and special projects, such ascash-to-accrual accounting, opening balance sheet preparation, consolidation accounting, and other transaction or reporting needs
  • Assistclients withpreparing for financial statement audits, Single Audits, and complianceaudits
  • Lead technical accounting projects related toASC 958 (Not-for-Profit Entities), revenue recognition (ASC 606 with contributions vs. exchange transactions), leases (ASC 842), and other relevant standards
  • Provide guidance onnet asset classification (with and without donor restrictions), grant accounting, and contribution revenue recognition
  • Support the preparationand reviewoffinancial statements, footnotes, reconciliations, and accounting memostailored to not-for-profit reporting requirements
  • Provide recommendations related tofinance policies, procedures, and operating model support
  • Support clients withinternal financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
  • Provide guidance to clients onfinance systems, reporting tools, and related process improvements,including implementation support, system optimization, and data/reporting needs
  • Assistclients with information and reporting needs related toForm 990 and other state or federal reporting requirements, as needed
  • Support clientsbyidentifyingopportunities to improveinternal controls, governance, and financial processes

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountingand CPA license
  • Five or more years of experience within a public accounting firm and/or industry environment performingaudit, controllership, or consulting services, with experience servingnot-for-profit organizations, foundations, higher education, healthcare, or NGOs preferred
  • Proven experience and interest intechnical accounting matters, particularly within the not-for-profit sector
  • Exposure tomonth-end close, audit processes, and financial reportingin a not-for-profit or similar environment
  • Strong organizational skills, including experience planning and leading projects from start to finish
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while working independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders such asboards of directors, finance committees, and executive leadership
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 40%)

Additionalpreferred qualifications:

  • Experience working withinnot-for-profit accounting departments or advisory environments

  • Familiarity with systems commonly used in the NFP sector, such asBlackbaud, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Workday, orQuickBooks

  • Experience withgrant tracking, donor management systems, or restricted fund reporting

  • Experience supportingsingle audits (Uniform Guidance) and compliance reporting

  • Familiarity withbudgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning,and management reporting

  • Exposure to financial process improvement tools and data analytics platforms, such asExcel, Power BI,Alteryx, Tableau, orsimilartools

Pay from: $124,700 to $179,500
