Description

Non-exempt position. Plan and carry out analytical chemistry tasks that are required in a variety of laboratory activities.

Duties

Plan and carry out various analyses as instructed in a timely and accurate manner.

Preparation and analysis of PCB Solids / PCB.liquids.

Radiochemist for gamma spectroscopy.

Purchasing/Receiving/Maintaining PO Invoice database.

Perform laboratory procedures according to QA/QC and environmental policies and to meet standard operating procedures for laboratory operation.

Compile, record, calculate, analyze and file data as instructed.

Document work in forms of memoranda, reports and methods when required.

Apply safety rules and adhere to general conduct regulations in handling laboratory materials and equipment.

Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in proper operating condition and contact repair services as required.

Assume responsibility for maintaining an adequate supply of reagents, standards and other supplies necessary for work to be completed on a timely basis.

Remove waste materials generated by laboratory activity in assigned area of responsibility.

Serve on laboratory committees as required (e.g. Safety, Contingency Plan, Training Team, etc.) or accepts other collateral laboratory assignments.

Contribute to the development and implementation of new lab methods and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science with a minimum of six years of related laboratory work experience.

Must demonstrate ability to perform complex laboratory tasks and to prepare reagents, use advanced instrumentation and calculate routine statistics.

Working knowledge of QA/QC laboratory procedures is required.

Proficiency with Excel Microsoft 360 or later revisions.

Ability to handle productions schedules, pressure situations and produce high volume, quality work.

Must be a team worker willing to get the job done including a willingness to work overtime as needed.


Working Conditions

Lab environment, some light lifting, bending and reaching necessary. The position requires the ability to wear protective equipment and work with hazardous materials. Job will require standing approximately five to six hours per day. Job may require overtime and shift work.
