Non Exempt Bilingual German Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Institute for Global Studies and associated research centers and academic programs occasionally hire part-time employees to provide administrative, communications, and events support, as assigned and in consultation with center directors and program coordinators. These are part-time positions (Casual Nonexempt, Job Code 0005) working no more than 14 hours per calendar week as assigned by the supervisor. 
Students enrolled at a University of Minnesota system campus who are eligible for student employment (e.g., undergraduate or graduate employment programs) are not eligible for employment in this job classification. Minnesota Statute limits the eligibility, number of hours and/or days worked in this job classification. 
Responsibilities
Casual Nonexempt positions in the Institute for Global Studies provide support for various needs, including office and administration, communications, programming, community engagement, events, research, technology, and related activities. These positions take direction from center directors and program coordinators, and candidates must be able to complete assignments independently.
This posting does not constitute an announcement of open positions, but is used to establish a pool of applications should openings occur during academic year 2025/26 and summer 2026. About the College of Liberal Arts

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experiences to equal four years; demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with an emphasis on precision and timeliness of execution.
• Academic and educational background in the humanistic social sciences, with an emphasis in a field closely related to a center or program associated with IGS. 
• Relevant skills and work experience related to the casual position being filled. This may include any of the following areas of expertise: administrative, communications, community engagement, events support, technology support and training, research and archival experience, and related activities. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior successful work experience working in a research center, academic program, or degree-granting department or school in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota.
• Advanced degree and/or equivalent educational background in the humanistic social sciences. 
• Experience coordinating large-scale projects and developing new programs.
• Experience writing grants, helping to develop grant budgets, and monitoring timelines.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $50.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
