A Non Exempt Accountant is an accounting professional who is classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as eligible for overtime pay. This means they are typically paid hourly and must receive overtime compensation for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Non Exempt Accountants usually perform routine accounting tasks, such as bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and processing invoices, under the supervision of more senior staff. Their duties may vary depending on the organization but often involve support roles rather than management or advanced accounting responsibilities.

To thrive as a Non Exempt Accountant, you need a solid understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and at least an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
