Job Title: CAD Technician I Job Location: 2908 Marketplace Drive, Fitchburg, WI 53719 Primary Function:
Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium/high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employee's understanding of drafting techniques, corporate/client standards, and procedures. CAD Technician's will either be dedicated to Electrical, Transmission, or Civil/Structural design projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups
  • Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g. transmittals)
  • Learn and apply the corporate/client standard of drafting and engineering practices
  • Learn and properly use document management systems
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
  • Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
  • Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Associate degree in drafting & design is required. A certificate in CAD drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate degree.
Possess skills in the following areas:

  • Experience with AutoCAD 2010 and newer is required.
  • Experience with Microstation preferred but not required
  • 3D CADD experience preferred but not required
  • Basic drafting including drawing scales, drawing layouts (Paperspace/Modelspace), and accurately reproducing engineering markups
  • CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
  • College level geometry
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with co-workers
Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires minimal physical effort.
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
