Job description

Department Overview

The mission of Student Health & Wellness is to support the health and well-being of OHSU students and postdoctoral fellows during their academic careers at OHSU. Our providers and staff work hard to provide exceptional and confidential primary care, behavioral health care, wellness programming, and food resources for our approximately 3,000 OHSU students and postdocs.

Function/Duties of Position

As a Wellness and Data Analysis Student Worker, you will play a valuable role in helping analyze data and grow programming and resources to support student compliance. Some general duties are expected to include:

  • Directly assist Compliance Specialist with analyzing and reporting on student's total compliance status as related to OAR and OHSU immunization policies and specific program requirements.
  • Assisting with data entry of Immune Status Forms and supporting immunization documentation into student's charts in Enterprise Health.
  • Supporting the Compliance Specialist by running the weekly COVID non-compliant report and emailing to key stakeholders.
  • Understand and follow FERPA and HIPAA regulations regarding the sharing of compliance information.
  • Other duties as assigned, plus may be based on students' skill sets and/or interests.
Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in:
    • Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours), OR
    • Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Excel including spreadsheet creation, data analysis and visualization and data maintenance proficiency.
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills - both in-person, on the phone and video.
  • Comfort with technology and ability to quickly learn various software systems (Microsoft Teams, Enterprise Health, Alert, etc.  OHSU trainings and/or excellent help guides and IT support are available, and prior experience with these particular platforms is not necessary)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately and independently, while also being a key member of a team
  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality with student information
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to serve as a positive and professional representative of Student Health in all interactions, including via email, phone or in-person.
  • Creates an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences. Functions and communicates effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds. Adheres to all OHSU policies including those that prohibit discrimination and harassment. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a field related to Data Analyst, Bio Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience running reports, synthesizing data into understandable charts and graphs, and interpreting data to guide decision making.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) including advanced skills in Excel including.
  • Flexible, open and helpful attitude and communication style, and willingness to assist with various projects across Student Health functions
  • Experience with and strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Additional Details

This is a 100% remote position. The vast majority of the work will be on the computer. This position will be 5-15 hours of work per week.The Compliance Specialist works Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm. Most of the student's hours should generally be scheduled within these times. The exact schedule is flexible and can be determined based on mutual needs and can be adjusted based on the student's changing academic schedule.
