Mechanic

Alter Trading Corporation, a 123+ year old privately held company with over 70 scrap metal processing facilities and affiliates throughout nine states in the Midwest and Southern region is searching for an energetic, detail-oriented Maintenance Mechanic. Job Description/Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and conduct preventive maintenance on all facility equipment.

1. Inspect and conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment

2. May maintain facility equipment, on or off site including but not limited to:

· Cranes

· Forklifts

· Loaders

· Non-ferrous Shear

· Skid Steer

· Sorting Lines

· Shredders

· Trucks

· Trailers

· Wire Striper

3. Prepare & maintain all maintenance records

4. Organize and maintain cleanliness of Maintenance Department

5. You will be involved in variety of other responsibilities including ordering parts, welding, and fabricating, minor electrical repairs

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED required. Prefer AAS (technical degree) and/or technical certification in Truck Repair, Welding, Hydraulics, and Electrical & Diesel Mechanics.

2. Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in truck repairs, diesel mechanics, hydraulics, welding, electrical record keeping, and preventive maintenance programs. Must be able to multi-task & have the ability to develop effective working relationships with vendors & suppliers. Must be able to analyze facts and determine action using a range of procedures within limits of standard practice. Good communication skills and some computer skills required to utilize online PM programs as well as computer diesel, hydraulic and or electrical program

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19-$23 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Schedule:

  • 8-10 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights

Work Location: In person
