Field instructors teach outdoor skills, risk management, and leadership in remote environments. Other jobs include gear managers, program coordinators, and educators in areas such as wilderness medicine. Employees at NOLS are passionate about experiential education and outdoor leadership.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Nols position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) instructor, you need extensive outdoor skills, wilderness first aid certification, and practical teaching experience. Familiarity with technical gear such as climbing equipment, navigation tools, and communication devices is often required, along with certifications like Wilderness First Responder (WFR).
