Opportunity:


VSO is seeking an experienced and innovative NOC Network Solutions Engineer (Tier 4) to join our team in Lorton, Virginia. This senior-level role is perfect for professionals who excel in network architecture, strategic planning, and high-level problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex network solutions to support enterprise-level operations.
  • Lead network architecture projects and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging network technologies and recommend solutions to enhance performance, security, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Tier 3 engineers and other technical teams to develop and implement network improvements.
  • Provide expert-level guidance on troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee capacity planning, performance optimization, and future-proofing of network infrastructure.
  • Mentor and support NOC staff across all tiers to build technical competencies and ensure consistent operations.
  • Document network designs, solutions, and policies for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Participate in executive-level discussions regarding network strategies and investments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or solutions development.
  • Expertise in enterprise networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Advanced knowledge of network security principles and solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, mission-critical network systems.
  • Strong understanding of hybrid and cloud networking environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
  • Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA, or willing to relocate (Relocation Assistance Package Available).
  • Must be willing to work onsite.
  • Must have an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance
  • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call duties.
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.).
