As a first-time waiter with no experience, you may shadow another waiter to learn how to take orders and serve beverages or food to customers in a restaurant. Once you start working on your own, your duties may have you greeting customers, providing menus, answering questions, explaining specials, relaying orders, carrying trays of food and drinks to tables, preparing checks, taking payments, and cleaning tables. You aim to provide quality service to customers and ensure an efficient flow during your shift. You may be required to wear a uniform and abide by food and health safety standards.
