Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah, TX
Schedule: Full-time / PRN (Night Shifts Available)

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah is a 50-bed specialty hospital in north Houston providing inpatient care for children with complex medical and behavioral health needs. Our team bridges the gap from hospital to home, providing expert, compassionate care to help patients reach their milestones.

Position Summary
We’re seeking Pediatric RNs to deliver specialized care for patients with behavioral and co-occurring medical conditions. You’ll assess mental health status, administer interventions, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and therapeutic care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric nursing care following Texas practice guidelines
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient mental and physical health status
  • Respond promptly to psychiatric and medical emergencies
  • Support patient de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies
  • Collaborate with therapists, physicians, and families to implement care plans

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in Texas (or compact)
  • BLS required; ACLS within 45 days
  • (de-escalation) training within 30 days of hire
  • 1+ year psychiatric, behavioral health, or acute care experience preferred
