DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiology Technologist assists with diagnostic angiographic, complex vascular, neurovascular, and nonvascular interventional procedures. The IR Tech is responsible for obtaining all equipment needed for a procedure, positioning and imaging patients, resolving equipment issues, and demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy, radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation. IR Techs are required to have a combination of technical, radiologic and clinical skills. The IR Tech performs general radiographic and fluoroscopic exams using fixed and portable imaging equipment throughout General Diagnostic Radiology. Participates in workflow coordination, training, and team-based quality improvement activities within a collaborative work environment. Other duties assigned as needed.
Demonstrates and applies knowledge of radiation safety principles. Demonstrates competency in interventional diagnostic procedures. Must follow interventional filming protocols and policies. Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and call (Vascular/NeuroVascular) and some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues. Utilizes imaging and information systems including PACS, CR, DR, RIS, and HIS to support patient care and departmental operations. Additional modality experience is desirable to support cross-coverage during routine operations and expected/unexpected staffing needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • California Radiology Technologist - Fluoroscopy (CRT-F) License.
  • California Radiology Technologist - Radiography (CRT-R) License.
  • Registered Technologist for Radiography issued by ARRT (R.T(R)(ARRT)).
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Experience in diagnostic angiographic procedures, complex vascular, nonvascular, and Neuro Vascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Knowledge of fluoroscopy, operating room procedures, and diagnostic imaging practices.
  • Proficiency with PACS, RIS, and other radiology information systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
  • Must adhere to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance, and demonstrate the characteristics of professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior and attentiveness to others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) or more years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist or at least one (1) year as a licensed Rad Tech. Will consider Experience is other modalities, PACS, Operating Room, Fluoroscopy, portables.
  • Experience working in a high-volume interventional radiology environment.
  • CT imaging experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include alternate locations, day, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call is required and some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $126,512 - $166,977 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $60.59 - $79.97
