Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Primarily responsible for inputting data, processing transactions, and supporting the accounting function. Assist accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for the Company and all managed properties. This role has growth potential that can evolve and grow to support a long-term career.

It is a leader in solving the housing affordability crises throughout the Midwest and finds innovative new structures and projects that help communities address their most challenging housing needs. In the past three years, the Company has positioned itself for substantial growth and has over $90M in active projects in the development pipeline.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Enter invoices and job cost expenses into the system accurately
  • Scan and upload checks, invoices, and supporting documents
  • Assist with processing payments to vendors
  • Help apply customer payments to accounts
  • Review invoices for basic accuracy (amounts, dates, vendor info)
  • Organize and maintain financial records and files
  • Support the team with simple reporting and data entry tasks
  • Assist with general administrative and accounting support as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


DIRECT SUPERVISER:

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will work alongside other accountants and office administrators.


EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a minimum of two years' experience preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn NetSuite
  • Working knowledge of real estate related contracts, construction accounting, and transaction procedures common in the industry preferred, but not required
  • Personal traits of a high-level of commitment, motivation, energy, team orientation, professionalism, trust, personal honesty and integrity, and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in various forms with customers, associates and the general public, and ability to contribute to a strong team culture.
