Golf Course Supervisor
Department: Parks and Recreation
Division: Sunflower Hills Golf Course
Job Description:
The Golf Course Supervisor will work in conjunction with and report to the Golf Course Superintendent. The position is working supervisory position. The main responsibilities of the position are to implement agronomic plans, assist with daily crew supervision and delegation, assist with chemical and fertilizer calibration and application, irrigation troubleshooting and repair. Additional duties may include: maintenance of mowers, sprayers, equipment and golf carts; assist maintaining accurate records of chemical applications, water usage and gasoline consumption; and maintenance of shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and three years experience in area of assignment; or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and experience in area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Knowledge of supervisory principles; experience in irrigation troubleshooting and repair; knowledge of the game and the rules of golf; Valid Driver's License is required.
Essential Duties:
  • Supervises personnel to include: prioritizing and scheduling daily work assignments and determining manpower, equipment, and supply needs.
  • Conducts inspections of turf condition to include checking for dryness, fungus, and insect damage and reports conditions to the Golf Course Superintendent
  • Conducts inspections, repairs, and maintains turf maintenance equipment.
  • Operates all turf maintenance equipment which includes but does not limit to mowers, tractors, vehicles, golf carts, chain saws, and gas-powered lawn equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system.
  • Maintains and upkeeps the entire golf course property which includes but does not limit to housekeeping the maintenance shop and collects trash and debris on the golf course.
  • Plants, waters, fertilize, mulch, and maintain shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

  • Turf maintenance practices;
  • Irrigation systems;
  • Pesticides and fungicides;
  • Supervisory practices;
  • Safety techniques;

  • Using office equipment such as calculators and telephones
  • Operating pumphouses and irrigation systems;
  • Recognizing turf management pests;
  • Applying pesticides and fungicides;
  • Providing customer service and public relations;
  • Implementing board policies and administrative guidelines;
  • Assessing course playing conditions;
  • Supervising and evaluation the work of personnel;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Training and Experience:
