Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island, and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.
Job Summary:
As Georgia’s largest public golf resort, Jekyll Island offers 54 holes on three golf courses, providing players of all skill and experience levels with an outstanding golf experience. With over 80,000 golfers playing our golf courses each year, Golf Outside Guest Services assists our guests with all golf shop outside operations including but not limited to cart, starter, and ranger duties, as assigned. This role welcomes guests, provides golf course and cart information, coordinates pace of play, enforces course rules and safety standards, and supports golf cart and driving range upkeep to ensure a positive guest experience.
Description:
  • Greet and acknowledge golfers/guests arriving at the golf clubhouse, provide information, directions, applicable rules and pace of play expectations, etc.
  • Assist golfers with golf carts, assist with loading golf bags, and anticipate and address guests' needs.
  • Perform a variety of general golf cart upkeep (charging, cleaning, replacing sand in golf cart buckets, tire pressure, etc.) and document any golf cart damage or deficiency for mechanic review.
  • Set up the driving range and collect range balls as needed.
  • Coordinate and direct the start of play, assisting patrons in beginning play, encouraging efficient progress of play, and verifying presence of tickets indicating tee times and fee payment.
  • Maintain orderly, timely pace of play throughout the golf courses, including patrolling to monitor spacing between groups and addressing slow play in a polite and tactful manner.
  • Enforce golf course rules, dress code, cart policies, and safety regulations in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Assist golfers with locating holes, restrooms, comfort stations, and other course amenities.
  • Monitor the environment to ensure the safety of guests and report unsafe conditions, course maintenance issues, accidents, or policy violations to golf management or the Director of Public Safety, as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with the golf shop, maintenance staff, and other operations personnel using radios or other approved communication devices.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests promptly and professionally, providing information on tee times, tournaments, Jekyll Island attractions, etc.
  • Operate JIA-owned vehicles and golf carts to travel between locations as needed to perform job duties.
  • Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance at all times.
  • Assist with tournament operations, outings, and special events as assigned.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of starter areas, ranger stations, and surrounding facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in golf pro shop and golf guest services preferred.
  • General knowledge of the rules of golf and golf etiquette.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a desire and ability to ensure golf experience is outstanding.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts is required.
  • Successful completion of applicable background check

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent standing, sitting, walking, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions.
  • Less than 25% of the typical workday will consist of stooping and crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to read and write, and communicate.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring accuracy, neatness, and thorough work assigned.
  • Subject to work inside and outside with extended periods in outside conditions will be exposed to sun, heat amp; humidity, cold, and rain.
