Job description

Haven Home Care | Hiring Home Health Aides in Summit County, Ohio

WHEN YOU'D WORK
Our work happens during the day. Hours run 6AM to 8PM, and most care is between 8AM and 5PM. No overnight shifts. You'll work at least 20 hours a week.

Shifts can be short — sometimes 2-3 hours per visit. Some are 4-6 hours. Some are 8. It depends on what the client needs. If a client needs help with a morning bath and breakfast, that's a 2-hour shift. To get to your 20+ hours, you'll usually have several clients across different days.

You tell us the days and times you can work at your phone interview. We match clients to that.

WHAT THE WORK IS
You help people in their homes. Mostly older adults. Baths, getting dressed, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. This is physical work — you're on your feet most of the day and you help people move around. If you need help doing these tasks, tell us. We can talk about what might work.

You do NOT give medicine or do medical tasks. That's for nurses.

THE PAY
- STNA license: $18/hour
- HHA certificate or experience: $16-18/hour based on interview
- Free training pathway: $16/hour
- A private pay client you referred: HHA $19/hour, STNA $20/hour

10% extra on holidays. Paid every 2 weeks. Direct deposit. W-2 job. Drive time between clients is paid. To your first client or from your last is not.

Three performance raises in your first 2 years: +$0.50 at 90 days, +$0.50 at 1 year, +$1.00 at 2 years. Miss one and it carries over.

MORE WAYS TO EARN
- $100 after 30 days with perfect attendance.
- $300 when you refer a Home Health Aide who stays — $100 at 60 hours, $200 more at 200 hours.
- $75-$1,500 when you refer a private pay client, based on their hours.

FOUR WAYS TO QUALIFY
1. STNA (active or expired): $18/hour, 1-3 days, skip our test.
2. HHA certificate (30+ hours, RN-signed unless done online): $16-18/hour, 5-8 days.
3. Experience — 1+ year at one company under an RN or LPN: $16-18/hour, 5-8 days after we verify.
4. No experience — free 32-hour training (6 days, not paid): $16/hour, 1-2 weeks.

CAN'T VERIFY YOUR EXPERIENCE? CERTIFICATE DOESN'T QUALIFY?

Maybe the company you worked for closed. Maybe there's no one left to call, or they only use a service like The Work Number. That's okay. You're not turned away. You can still join by taking our free online training to qualify.

And because you already have a care background, your pay stays based on your interview ($16-18/hour), not the brand-new rate. Only people with no experience at all start at $16.

Every path: phone talk (20 min) → short online questionnaire → test if needed → sign paperwork online → online orientation + document check (30-40 min) → fingerprinting.

ABOUT THE TEST
Ohio requires a written and skills test for HHAs — 80% on both parts. You take it in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office. We schedule the time with you.

One thing we ask: our nurse drives to the office just for your test — nothing else. If you can't make it, text (330) 400-3423 BEFORE your test time. We'll reschedule you, no problem. But if you just don't show up, our nurse waited for nothing. We take that seriously.

STNAs skip the test — your license proves you passed. Already passed an HHA test with 80% or higher somewhere else? Show us your results and you skip it too.

HOW CLIENT MATCHING WORKS
You tell us your limits during your phone interview: pets, smoking, travel distance, days and times. We only assign clients that match YOUR limits. Period.

THE GUARANTEE: If you can travel anywhere we have clients AND work with any client — you WILL start working. Quickly. We always have clients somewhere. And if there's no immediate match in your area, you're first in line when one opens up.

THE REALITY: If you have travel limits or preferences — specific cities, certain days/times, no pets, no smoking — we respect them 100%. But your client availability WILL be smaller. That's not a "maybe," that's math.

Example: We have 5 clients open today, but all 5 are in Akron. If you only want Stow clients, you WILL wait until a Stow client opens up. Same for any limit you set.

The stricter your limits, the longer the wait. Every time.

During your first 2 weeks, we gauge reliability with fill-in shifts. But if permanent clients match you right away, we assign them right away.

After that, you have your regular clients — same people every week. Most Home Health Aides have 2-4 regulars. You can still pick up extra fill-ins if you want more hours.

WHAT "FLEXIBLE" MEANS HERE
"Flexible" means the days and times you told us you can work.
"Flexible" does NOT mean calling off whenever you want or skipping shifts you don't feel like doing.

Our clients are older adults who depend on you showing up. If you commit to certain days during your phone interview, we expect you those days. Attendance is one of the biggest things we look at — it's part of the raise criteria. Don't be the reason a client leaves Haven.

If your life changes and you need different hours, tell us. We can work with you. What we can't work with is no-shows and last-minute call-offs.

WHAT YOU NEED
Driver's license. Your own car with insurance that covers work driving. Pass background checks. Work at least 20 hours/week. Available 6AM-8PM. Legal right to work in the US. Must be at least 18 years old.

No PTO, no 401k, no health insurance — we're upfront about that.

AFTER YOU APPLY
We'll email you a simple guide with everything — the pay, the four ways to qualify, and what happens next. Check your spam folder too; our emails sometimes land there.

GET STARTED
