Title: Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Who We Are:

Trinidad State College, located in Trinidad, Colorado, is a state-supported, two-year institution of higher education. The College was established by an act of the State Legislature in 1925, and is the oldest public two-year college in the State of Colorado. The College’s Service Area includes eight rural counties characterized by low population density and small communities. One campus is located in Trinidad and is a residential campus while the other, located in Alamosa, is a commuter campus. Both campuses serve distinct populations. As a comprehensive Community College, Trinidad State College not only offers ongoing transfer Associate of Arts Degree and Associate of Applied Science (vocational) Degree programs but also has developed and implemented numerous successful short-term vocational certificate programs, and totally inclusive adult education and developmental programs.

Job Summary:

Serves as the primary assistant coach for the Men’s Soccer program at Trinidad State. Will implement game and practice plans put in place by the head coach, sometimes taking over primary coaching duties if the situation arises. Assist the head Soccer coach in all aspects of coaching, which include teaching the game, assisting in daily practices with drills, technique, and conditioning, recruiting, planning and assisting in game day management. This position is responsible for the supervision of players during road trips. The position will comply with both NJCAA and Trinidad State College rules and regulations. Includes other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Head Soccer Coach or the Athletic Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Soccer Coach in the overall administration of the Men’s Soccer program
• Recruit quality prospective student-athletes who are able to succeed both academically and athletically
• Encourage academic achievement and provide academic assistance to student-athletes as necessary
• Monitor academic progress of team members
• Monitor study hall sessions
• Promote youth and college identification Soccer camps during Spring and Summer months
• Assist Head Soccer Coach in planning and conducting positive training sessions
• Plan and conduct positive goalkeeper training sessions
• Assist Head Soccer Coach during travel to away contests
• Scout opponents
• Assist Head Soccer Coach in planning and conducting off-season conditioning program
• Supervise work study positions
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One to three (1-3) years' coaching experience
• College playing experience or familiarity working with student-athletes
• Associate’s degree
• Understanding of the mission of the community college and programs typically offered at a community college
• Proven ability to work as a team player, appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude and sense of humor
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel
• Must hold, or must qualify for and obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver’s License

This position is responsible for development of student training and awareness programming for the athletic team regarding unlawful discrimination and harassment prevention, which includes sexual misconduct, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity/Title IX Coordinator for the College as well as the College Athletic Director.
This position is responsible for development of primary prevention and awareness programs for the athletic team for incoming students as well as ongoing prevention and awareness campaigns pursuant to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act on dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, in collaboration with College staff responsible with overseeing Clery Act compliance.
